10k, teething, and rain
What an awesome couple weeks we had with that rain! The trails were perfect, everything smelled delicious, and I got to get out and relish in it all. Troy may have bragged about riding Prom Night, but he only rode it because I rode it first and told him how to get there! It was super sweet, but I wouldn’t want to do it when the trails are dry…those steep sections would be a whole other story. I was super stoked to ride the steep left hand line on the finish and swoop it under the downed tree.
I wonder what will happen when the “real” monsoons hit though, since those last storms evidently weren’t monsoons, yet acted exactly like monsoons…will it hit us double? Be totally dry? We’ll see.
On a last minute whim, I raced the NACA 10k Prayer Run. It was a really great race for me. My friend Sara finished 1st and I finished 2nd. But it was a hard fought battle for 2nd; Michelle Wesson was on my heels and pushing me the entire race. If it wasn’t for the downhill finish I’m not sure I would have beaten her. Looking at the results I just saw Scott Bajer finished a few minutes ahead of me…is that the Scott Bajer I went to high school with?
Teething sucks for everyone. Poor McKenna, poor mama. Yay for baby ibuprofen! Here she is a couple weeks ago on her 9 month birthday:
She really is such a sweet little girl. High energy, yes. High needs, yes. But sweet and fun too!
Only 11 more shopping days until my birthday.

By the way, have you ever heard of Hylands teething tablets? Don’t know if they’d work for her, but I know you like homeopathic stuff.

Way to nab second in front of Michelle, I know she’s a touch competitor and very capable runner. I am sure she was bummed. Teething. Ah, the joys! Now that Owen sleeps through the night, he doesn’t really mind teething as much and it doesn’t seem to bother him during the day. He puts himself back to sleep when it hurts a little (I can hear him groan and whine a minute or so). He’s got 10 teeth now with 4 coming in up top currently. After that, it will be only 2 teeth to go!! YIPPIE. We also use the Hylands teething tablets and gel but have used Tylenol a couple of times when it was bad at 9 months.

Your baby is sooooooooo cute! She’s beautiful.
Glad to hear your out running and riding. Hopefully we’ll come through this summer.

Gosh I sure hope Michelle wasn’t bummed about the race…she ran a super race and really pushed me! I appreciate that kind of “real racing” and imagine she does too.
teething tablets help but when her gums are clearly swollen and have blood blisters it is straight to the motrin! at least at nighttime to help her sleep anyway (and to help me sleep
)

Woah, blood blisters? That’s pretty bad, I don’t remember my kids having that. I used a wet washcloth for them to teethe on.
